Degree in Systems Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Science, or a related field.

International certifications (desirable):

CCNA / CCNP / CCIE (Cisco)
JNCIA / JNCIP (Juniper)
Fortinet NSE 4–7, Palo Alto PCNSE, Check Point CCSA / CCSE
CompTIA Network+ / Security+

Key Technical Knowledge requiredNetworks and Protocols

TCP/IP, UDP, ICMP, ARP
Dynamic routing (OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, RIP)
Advanced switching (VLANs, STP, Trunking, EtherChannel)
QoS, MPLS, VPN (IPSec, SSL, DMVPN)

Firewalls and Security

Administration of next-generation firewalls (NGFW): Fortinet, Palo Alto, Cisco ASA/Firepower, Check Point
Rule configuration, access policies, NAT, application filtering
IPS/IDS management (intrusion detection and prevention)
Network segmentation, DMZ, Zero Trust
Authentication knowledge (RADIUS, TACACS+, LDAP, SAML)

Communication Equipment

Edge and core routers
L2 and L3 switches
Load balancers (F5, Citrix Netscaler, HAProxy)
Proxy and content filtering

Monitoring and Management

Tools: SolarWinds, PRTG, Zabbix, Nagios
Syslog, SNMP, NetFlow, sFlow
Troubleshooting with Wireshark, tcpdump

Operating Systems and Virtualization

Linux (network configuration, IPTables, security services)
Network virtualization (VMware NSX, Cisco ACI)
Cloud networking (AWS VPC, Azure VNets, GCP Networking)

Personal Skills

Analysis and resolution of complex problems under critical time constraints
Ability to document and design network architectures
Experience working in high-availability environments (24x7)
Effective communication with multidisciplinary teams

Required Experience

5+ years in network administration and perimeter security
Implementation of migration, segmentation, or infrastructure hardening projects
Experience in responding to security incidents
Participation in network audits and compliance (ISO 27001, PCI-DSS, HIPAA, etc.)
