Detalle del aviso:Smithsonian Tropical Research InstituteAnnouncement N°12April, 2024PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE OPEN NOTICEFrom now on we will be receiving candidates for the "DEIA Data Analysis and Reporting project"Location: Earl Tupper Center, Panama City, Panama.The DEIA Data Analysis and Reporting project provides an opportunity for the intern to collect, analyze, and report on demographic data related to employee diversity, representation, and retention within the organization.Project Objectives:
  • Track progress on DEIA (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility) goals and initiatives,
  • Identify trends, disparities, and areas for improvement, and inform decision-making processes to enhance diversity and inclusion efforts.
You will contribute to the project with the following responsibilities:
  • Actively engage in the collection of demographic data regarding employee diversity under the guidance of the Diversity Manager, including but not limited to race, ethnicity, gender, age, disability status, sexual orientation, and veteran status.
  • Utilize statistical methods and data analysis techniques to examine collected diversity data, identifying patterns, trends, disparities, and areas for improvement within the organization, with the support of the Diversity Manager.
  • Develop and enhance reporting skills to create comprehensive reports and visualizations that effectively communicate analyzed data, highlighting key findings and insights relevant to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA) goals and initiatives, under the assistance of the Diversity Manager.
  • Establish and implement mechanisms for regular tracking and monitoring of the organization's progress on DEIA goals and initiatives, ensuring transparency and accountability in diversity and inclusion efforts, under the mentorship of the Diversity Manager.
To succeed in this role...
  • Enrolled in, or in the final year of, a bachelor's degree program at a university.
  • Knowledge or academic background in one or more of the following fields: data science, applied mathematics, sociology or demography, business analytics, psychology, environmental science, or sustainability studies.
  • Advanced proficiency in data analysis tools (Excel, Power BI, among others).
  • Advanced proficiency in English.
